Information on WA State DOL Knowlege and Driving Test

At Street Law Driving School we offer both the Approved Knowledge and Drivers Tests.

*Applicants are required to pass these two tests before obtaining a Washington Driver’s License.  Applicants should read and study the Washington State Drivers Guide before the tests

  • An applicant without a Washington State Drivers Permit needs to pre-apply at DOL License Express website at:

  • Before an applicant can test at Street Law Driving School, they must first sign our testing policy for knowledge and driving test.

Knowledge test: $30

The knowledge exam consists of 40 multiple-choice questions. To pass, applicants must achieve a score of at least 80%. For more information, visit the DOL website.
Test scores are reported electronically to the Department of Licensing within 24 hours.
What to Bring:
  • A legal photo ID
  • Your Washington Driver License (WDL) number
  • DOL account login details (username and password)

Driving Test: $80

Street law graduate drive test $60 (This is the standard drivers test with a couponed price for teen graduates of Street Law Driving School)
The driving test will test applicants’ ability to follow traffic laws and their ability to drive safely. Applicants must pass the driving test with a score of 80 or better out of 100 possible points.
The drive test can only be taken after the knowledge test is completed.
Scores for the driving test will be reported to the Department of Licensing electronically within 24 hours.
The applicant must bring a Legal Photo ID and their WDL number to the test.

Drive tests will always be done in the Street Law vehicle. This is used for the safety of the student and examiner, the vehicle has a passenger brake and can be controlled if a dangerous situation occurs. Only the student and the examiner will be in the car during the test. The vehicle we have at this time is an Automatic red 2015 Prius C
Passing driving test does not guarantee that an applicant will be issued a driver license. The Department of Licensing will determine if an applicant has met all licensing requirements.
The Department of Licensing reserves the right to retest applicants who complete tests through Street Law Driving School. Retesting is done at random at no cost to the applicant

Street Law Driving School Teaches Essential Driver Safety Practices

Utilizing dynamic classroom presentations and common-sense concepts. Drivers will learn Washington State Law, important safety skills, critical life-saving techniques, and will build the confidence and awareness necessary for today's extreme driving environments.
